“I run my own business and my time is valuable. Daniel handled everything — compared the private options, explained what I was actually getting, and had me covered fast. Way better experience than trying to navigate it myself.”

How the check works: a licensed agent checks Ochsner Health, and any doctors you name, against every 2026 marketplace plan filed in your county, then sends you the plans that include them and the date it was checked. It costs nothing, and you only get a call if you ask for one.

  1. Your ZIP code
  2. Who to check — Ochsner Health is filled in
  3. Your answer, usually the same day

Open Enrollment for 2027 runs November 1 to January 15: choose by December 15 for coverage from January 1. Cigna and Molina are leaving Mississippi’s marketplace for 2027. If your plan is from either, it ends December 31, and the plan that replaces it may not include Ochsner Health. A licensed agent will check the 2027 plans for you before you choose.

The honest answer is that it depends on the individual plan rather than the carrier, and it can change during the year. Here is what is actually knowable, and how to settle it for your own plan in about ten minutes.

Insurance at Ochsner Health: the short answer

These 4 insurers sell 2026 marketplace plans in the 6 counties it serves: Ambetter from Magnolia Health, Molina Healthcare (leaving after 2026), UnitedHealthcare and Cigna Healthcare (leaving after 2026).

That is not a list of plans Ochsner Health accepts. Hospitals contract with individual plans, not whole insurers, so the same insurer can sell one plan that includes Ochsner Health and another that doesn’t. The answer that counts is a check of your exact plan, dated. Get my free hospital check ↑

Where Ochsner Health operates

Ochsner Health serves Meridian, Union, Morton, Bay Saint Louis, DeKalb, Quitman in Mississippi. These are the carriers filing marketplace plans in those markets for 2026, taken from the CMS landscape file:

Union30 of 1
Morton30 of 1
Bay Saint Louis40 of 1

Worth knowing: nowhere in Mississippi is a PPO sold on the marketplace at all. All 2,834 plans filed in Mississippi for 2026 are HMO (2,424) or EPO (410), so if Ochsner Health is not in the network attached to the plan you buy, there is no out-of-network benefit to fall back on.

What is actually filed near Ochsner Health

Plan supply and price vary county by county, and that variation is exactly what a price-sorted plan list hides:

No PPO on the marketplace

Every plan filed in Hancock County for 2026 is an HMO or an EPO — both restricted networks, and neither pays out-of-network. There is no PPO to fall back on, so if Ochsner Health is outside the network attached to the plan you buy, there is no out-of-network benefit. Which plan you pick decides whether your hospital is covered.

PY2026 CMS filed data. Benchmark Silver is for a 40-year-old; the family figure is a four-person household before any premium tax credit. Your own premium depends on age, household, tobacco use and the credit you qualify for. Verify at enrollment.

How many providers each insurer lists near Ochsner Health

Every insurer selling marketplace plans has to publish its provider directory as a data file. The figures count the doctors, clinics and hospitals each one lists at an address in each county below, across the 2026 plans it filed there. A dash means the insurer does not sell in that county.

Molina Healthcare: its directory file blocks automated downloads.

From each insurer’s own CMS machine-readable provider directory, downloaded September 25, 2026. A bigger number is not a promise about Ochsner Health. These files are self-reported, they go stale, and one insurer’s plans do not all use the same network — which is why a licensed agent checks the exact plan against Ochsner Health by hand above.

Self-employed and need Ochsner Health covered?

Yes, but the buying problem is different. A self-employed or 1099 household has no employer plan to fall back on and no HR department to check the network, so confirming that Ochsner Health is in the specific plan you buy is entirely on you. You are buying in the individual market, and in Hancock County there is no PPO on the marketplace at all. Every on-exchange plan is a restricted network, so there is no out-of-network benefit to absorb a mistake. If Ochsner Health sits outside the network attached to the plan you pick, that is simply the year you have bought.

The numbers above the table are what that looks like here. Benchmark Silver for a 40-year-old in Hancock County runs $657 a month, and a four-person household $1,968 — about $23,620 a year with no credit against it.

The second problem is that your income is a guess. Premium tax credits are calculated on what you project to earn next year — a number a 1099 earner, contractor or commission-paid household genuinely does not know in November. Above 400% of the federal poverty level there is no cap on repaying an advance credit, so a strong December can cost more than it earned. If your income moves, update the estimate on your exchange during the year rather than setting it once.

The mechanics of both — how the credit reconciles, and how to claim the self-employed premium deduction so an S-corp does not lose it — are the same wherever you live, so they live in one place rather than being repeated here: the self-employed premium deduction and subsidy reconciliation →

If you are 1099

Two things decide your year here: whether Ochsner Health is in the network of the specific plan you buy, and whether your income estimate holds. Getting the first wrong costs you access to the hospital; getting the second wrong costs you a bill in April.

Want cheaper coverage? Want better coverage? Not happy with what you have now? Same next step for all three — send your ZIP and the doctors you need covered, and a licensed agent will check Ochsner Health against every plan filed in your county.

The Ochsner Health hospitals in Mississippi

6 facilities, from the CMS Hospital General Information file (updated 22 July 2026). Listing them is not a statement about which plans contract with them — that is decided plan by plan.

Why nobody can give you a straight list

A carrier is not a network. The same insurer sells a broad-network plan and a narrow one side by side in the same county, and Ochsner Health can be contracted with one and not the other. A page telling you “Ochsner Health accepts Carrier X” is describing one plan on one date, and usually states neither.

Contracts are renegotiated mid-year too. A system and an insurer can part company in March, and patients usually find out from a letter afterwards. That is why the only answer worth having is one dated to when it was checked.
